Flor de Selva Cigars (Cigares)

Saludos,

Greetings, habituĂ© of Honduras. We at Habana Port Cigar Merchants are proud to introduce to you Flor de Selva. This cigar brand has been in existence for over 15 years with its distribution focus for the most part on Europe. Flor de Selva is the brainchild of Maya Selva who is originally from Honduras but moved to Paris. In 1992 she decided to return to her familial roots and began her education about the cigar business under the tutelage of Nestor Plasencia, Sr. She contracted the famous Plasencia to construct her cigars and the first batch was released in March 1995. Flor de Selva showcases the finest tobaccos Honduras has to offer and so the puro’s blend is very clean and elegant. The flavor profile is one of a cedary, buttery, creamy nature with an undertone of coffee. Flor de Selva is quite mild but very complex in its flavor profile. Perfect for both the beginner and expert.

You can imagine our pleasure when we saw the company making its U.S. debut at the big cigar trade show in July 2013. Knowing the reputation of the company and her blends, Habana Port was the 10th U.S. cigar retailer to open an account with Maya Selva Cigares and the first in Louisiana (in fact we may have been the first in the country to receive a shipment as our invoice number was #1). We invite you to try one of the most famous cigar brands you have not heard about. We are initially offering the Robusto (4 3/4 x 50), the Robusto Maduro (4 3/4 x 50 and the only size that utilizes a Maduro wrapper), the Tempo (6 x 60) and the Petit-Cigares (3 1/2 x 20 and one of the smallest handmade cigars on the market).

A. Fuente King T Rosado Sungrown

Saludos,

Greetings, Fuente fans. We recently received the A. Fuente King T Rosado Sungrown to our surprise. As is usual with rare Fuente releases, the company just sent this vitola without us requesting it or informing our staff. Believe us, we’re not complaining! We’ll take as many as they can send us! It’s always a pleasant surprise when we receive rare Fuente cigars. Anyway, in honor of A. Fuente’s centennial celebration in 2013 (postponed a year late due to packaging problems and the tobacco warehouse fire), you can expect some new and maybe one-time limited runs from the famed Dominican cigar maker. (Angel’s Share, anyone?)
The A. Fuente King T Rosado Sungrown is dressed in gorgeous glossy crimson tubes as opposed to the normal production King Ts which come packaged in black and white aluminum tubes. The King T RSG has the same wrapper found in the Rosado Sungrown line whose Vitola 44 received Cigar Aficionado’s No. 5 ranking in 2012. Let us know what you think of this cigar when you light it up, but remember to hurry and get yours today.

Factory Throwouts Cigars Now Banded

Saludos,
Greetings, thrifters and Throwouts. We wanted to give our kudos to J.C. Newman who is now banding and barcoding their $1 range Factory Throwouts cigar line. As a retailer it makes it easier for us to scan the cigars as we check you out. This was not an issue with their claro (green cigar line) but it was when trying to sort between the Sweets and Natural versions which are virtually indistinguishable until you light one up. So when you bring your Factory Throwouts to the counter, don’t worry. We will now be able to tell them apart.

La Flor Dominicana Unreleased Cigar

Saludos,
Greetings, dons of Diggers and Double Ligeros. The La Flor Domincana Unreleased cigar pictured below is a rare species. It exhibits dark, spicy notes but it is very smooth. It is semi-pressed. All we know about this special cigar is that the tobacco is aged for quite a few years. It is only available during LFD events. We may have to arrange an event with this company so our fans have a chance to try it.

Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro Cigar

Saludos,
Greetings, boys of box-pressed. The Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro Robusto Extra cigar. What a smoke. This cigar will be hitting our humidors next week. Sweet, chocolate milk notes. Yum. The cigar recently got high ratings from Cigar Aficionado and we can see why.

Alec Bradley Nica Puro Cigar

Saludos,
Greetings, purists of puros. According to our rep, Alec Bradley is shipping their newest cigar line, Nica Puro, today. We have been anxiously awaiting this cigar ever since AB announced the details last August during the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show & Convention.
The Nica Puro cigar is an all-Nicaraguan blend that will retail in the $8 range. It has been delayed for many months because AB was very particular about the blend. That means when we finally smoke it, we can expect a great smoking experience. Be on the lookout for its arrival into our shops. We may even offer an introductory special for the Alec Bradley Nica Puro cigar.

Alec Bradley Easy 5 Cigar Sampler

Saludos,

Greetings, celebrators of seconds. We at Habana Port have received a huge shipment of Alec Bradley Seconds. Dubbed the Easy Five, these cigars are bundled in a 5 count pack, and are offered in an assortment of sizes (from lonsdales to double coronas and everything in between) and your choice of Connecticut, Habano and Maduro wrappers.
Alright, alright, so more importantly, what is the cost? Each pack retails for $15.95. That’s right…you get 5 cigars from Alec Bradley for under $16. That’s $3.19 a stick for blends that usually retail for more than double. As many of you know, a second is a cigar that has not met the high standards of a cigar manufacturer to receive a band for a higher-priced line. There is nothing wrong with the cigar or tobacco.  The defects are usually aesthetic…maybe there’s a color blemish or the wrapper has a vein. Perhaps a cigar was packed a bit too loose. Or maybe the cigar is not as solid as it should be. The sticks are usually made by beginners so this is a great way for a roller to master his trade. But if all the consumer cares about is the flavor of a cigar blend, then seconds are an intelligent purchase.
So hurry in to any Habana Port Cigar Merchants location (Baton Rouge or Covington) and be the first to buy your packs. Whether the assortment is a Torpedo or Robusto or whether it is a Connecticut or Maduro, each sampler pack costs you $15.95. And once these samplers are gone, there is no guarantee we will see this offering from Alec Bradley again (or at least anytime soon since factories do not try to produce a cigar that meets the lower classification of a second).
FYI, we should list the Easy 5 Cigar Samplers on CigarEarth.com by the end of the week.
