Free Cigars! Nat Sherman “Cut & Light” Event at HPBR

Saludos,

Greetings, cigarians. Election Day is tomorrow so we are sure you could use a cigar whether to celebrate your candidate’s victory or to ease the pains of a political loss. Well, we at Habana Port Cigar Merchants received a call from Jimmy and Ike of Nat Sherman Cigars. They will be stopping by our Baton Rouge location tomorrow evening. They are offering any customer who comes in (Tuesday, November 4 from 5 to 7 pm) a complimentary Nat Sherman cigar. So if you are not aware of this legendary brand, now is the time to try their blends with no risk. Now if we could only just vote for candidates who are pro-cigar…

Nat Sherman Cigar “Cut & Light”
Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2014
Time: 5 to 7 pm
Location: Habana Port Cigar Merchants in Baton Rouge, LA

Nat Sherman Background
Nat Sherman has created the Timeless Collection Dominican with the assistance of Fonseca-maker, Manuel Quesada. This is the line that has garnered Nat Sherman a few recent Cigar Aficionado Top 25 Rankings and has resurrected their line of cigars. This is a full-bodied and truly full-flavored cigar. The flavors include a natural sweetness due to the oily Honduran wrapper and the balance comes from the Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers. The cigar has a rich and pleasant aroma and ends with a good long finish of nuts and espresso. A must-try.

We hope you will join us for this “meet and greet” with the fine gentlemen of Nat Sherman. Spread our message and Like Free Nat Sherman Cigars at Habana Port BR on Facebook this email!

Matilde Cigar Event

We are happy to announce that Ruben Gonzalez of small-batch cigar company Matilde Cigars will make a special appearance at our Habana Port Baton Rouge location.  Read below for details and mark your calendars for this occasion:

Matilde Cigar Tasting Event
Date: Thursday, October 30, 2014
Time: 5 to 8 pm
Location: Habana Port Cigar Merchants in Baton Rouge, LA

Event Details
Ruben Gonzalez, partner of Tabacalera Matilde, will join us this evening to educate us about the cigars in his company’s portfolio. Entry is complimentary yet you can participate in our event-only deals. When you buy any 4 Matilde Cigars cigars, you will receive 1 complimentary cigar. When you buy any 7 Matilde cigars, you will receive 2 free cigars. We will also have some “light fare” from Bergeron’s.

Matilde Background
With nearly 60 years of experience in the cigar industry, Jose Seijas has launched Matilde in 2014. It is the first cigar brand created by Seijas since he retired from Altadis in 2012. As general manager of their Dominican-based Tabacalera de Garcia factory, Seijas oversaw the production of 60 million cigars a year including brands like Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta. Retirement was not an option for Seijas and 2 years later, he set up a much smaller factory in La Romana intent on making cigars on a smaller scale. The Matilde Renacer is the first line for the new factory and uses a Habano Ecuador wrapper. The profile includes a rich, earthy layer with molasses and cocoa. The finish is leathery yet smooth. We hope you will join us for this special engagement.

Habana Port Goes to the Smokin’ Grape!

Saludos,

Greetings, gentry of grapes and toro gordos. We want to announce that we will be hosting a “Smoke Night” at Covington’s newest restaurant and bar: the Smokin’ Grape. To be held this Friday, November 18 starting at 6 PM, patrons of Habana Port will receive exclusive deals:
Print this coupon or show it to us on your cellphone to redeem these deals.
Come out this night, as Smokin’ Grape unveils their signature martini, the Smoketini which will surely be a great drink to pair with a cigar.
Remember the event date:
Friday, November 18, 2011 at 6 PM
Company Information:
Located at 70457 Highway 21, Suite 108, Covington, LA 70433, the Smokin’ Grape will appeal to the epicurean. The chefs at The Smokin’ Grape sizzle and sear fresh seafood and assemble mouthwatering sandwiches at the newly opened wine bar and restaurant. Diners can dunk creole-style eggplant sticks—lightly breaded and fried—or VeggieTales figurines into a pot of creole-mustard sauce or can sink incisors into thinly sliced catfish-fillet chips. The Smokin Bleu iceberg salad proffers even more sustenance with its crisp leafy greens mingling with crumbled blue cheese and bits of bacon. Five varieties of po boy, including oyster, roast beef, and ham and cheese, escort sweet-potato or french fries. A self-serve Enomatic wine bar lets patrons control how much wine they get and when they get it, preventing them from having to distract the bartender with double-jointed-eye tricks in order to get a full glass. Like them on Facebook.
