IPCPR announces Introduction of H.R. 792 to Protect Cigars from FDA
Saludos,
Greetings, patriots of pipes and premium cigars. Yesterday we received this email from the IPCPR, our trade association who represents the premium cigar industry and helps our lobbying efforts to protect our small family-oriented industry. Read the details of this historic event and do your part to help us in protecting our small cigar shops.
On Friday, February 15, 2013, alongside twelve bi-partisan co-sponsors, Reps. Bill Posey (R-FL) and Kathy Castor (D-FL) introduced H.R. 792, the ‘‘Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2013.” This legislation is a crucial step forward in protecting the premium cigar retail industry from undue regulation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) aiming “[t]o amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to clarify the Food and Drug Administration’s jurisdiction over certain tobacco products, and to protect jobs and small businesses involved in the sale, manufacturing and distribution of traditional and premium cigars.”

Cigar Smoker Turns 111!
Saludos,
Greetings, lovers of lonsdales. You may have already read about this story from last month but we wanted to report it to you anyway. Last month Ignacio Cubilla Banos, a retired sugar factory worker from Cuba, celebrated his 111th birthday. And what did he do to mark this fantastic occasion? Well, he smoked a fine cigar as usual, of course.
Surrounded by a plethora of family members (he has 11 children, 40 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren), Señor Banos smoked a Cuban cigar and counted his monetary gifts. He was born in 1900.
The elder Cuban is proof that smoking a fine cigar can help prolong one’s life (as a cigar de-stresses the consumer). Habana Port salutes you, Señor Banos! For the full story click here. Source: The Daily Mail ReporterUntil the next post, siempre fumando,

Close, But No Cuban Cigar

Greetings, fans of Habana Port. Click the link below to see video and read about the TSA confiscating Cuban cigars in the Chicago area airports recently. Remember that it is illegal to purchase Cuban goods because there is an embargo against the island nation.
